Royalists in danger

Windsor and Eton face going out of business unless they can find £10,000 to pay to the tax authorities by November 10.  The Royalists were promoted to the Zamaretto Premiership last season.

The club has total debts of £137,000 of which £50,000 is owed to Revenue and Customs.  The club hopes to raise £25,000 through selling highly rated striker Michael Chennells who has been on trial at Brentford.   Suppporters have been asked to make pledges of £1,000 or £5,000 each.  If £10,000 is paid next month, the club will be given 12 weeks to find the outstanding debt.

Once again this appears to be a club treating the settlement of its tax debts as an optional extra and then finding itself in serious difficulties.
