The profit contrasts with a £7.6m loss in the preceding season. Turnover was just under £79m. The club has paid off all loans and invested £10m in the Gartmore training ground. Work is also being undertaken at Turf Moor.
The club’s claim that it is a role model of how to run a club in a modern era is well justified. All this is achieved in a not particularly highly populated or prosperous area.
