The football club and the rugby club hope to be able to share the ground and it’s part of a long-term vision for a community sports hub in the town. The Quakers signed a memorandum of understanding with Darlington Rugby Football Club at the end of last year that will set the two teams on the path to sharing the site from next season.

The football club has been pressing fans to support the move back with a huge fund-raising drive. They have been playing twelve miles away at Bishop Auckland but were attracting average crowds of 1,300 before their promotion from the Northern League.

Congratulations to Darlington fans on their great efforts to keep their historic club, founded in 1883, playing football. It hasn’t been easy for them.
