QPR in takeover talks

Table topping Queen’s Park Rangers have confirmed that they are in talks for a sale of a 67 per cent majority holding in the club.   The identity of the prospective purchaser is not known, although there have been reports of a consortium of Asian and American businessmen.

However, vice-chairman Amit Bhatia, who is in the son-law of Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, has confirmed that he wishes to retain his stake in the club.  The Financial Times argued on Saturday that the development might be intended to test Mittal’s resolve.


In the 2009-10 season the club made a net loss of £13.7m and had net debt of £37m.
