Plymouth bidder to join fans

Leading bidder for Plymouth Argyle James Brent admits that he knows little about football, but he is going to join fans in the Devenport End on Saturday in an effort to understand their passion.   The match will also see the attendance of several hundred Brighton and Hove Albion supporters who will make a pilgrimage to Home Park to show their solidarity with the beleaguered club.   Green Army members backed them when the Seagulls were in trouble.

Talks are still continuing between the administrators and Paul Buttivant who heads a London-based consortium.   More surprisingly, there is still contact with Truro City owner Kevin Heaney.   One would have thought the administrator would have had enough of his inability to deliver.

A consortium fronted by millionaire developer Colin Hill is now out of a frame, as is a bid by Yelverton-based former Michael Jackson bodyguard Matt Fides.   He complained that none of the celebrities he contacted returned his calls, but perhaps they have better homes for their money than a League 2 club with serious financial problems.

James Brent will meet fans before the match on Saturday morning with Peter Ridsdale which should give them more information about the most credible bid.   The sooner things are sorted out the better as there is no doubt that events off the pitch have something to do with Argyle’s dismal form which leaves them rooted at the bottom of the table with just one point.
