The £10,000 a week wage limit he is reported to have imposed has caused difficulties for manager Ian Holloway. Oyston is also reported to have been disillusioned by the influence of agents at Premier League level. His father, Owen, remains majority shareholder at the club.
A spokesman for the supporters’ club speaking on Radio 5 tried to insist that it was still a tangerine dawn and that there would be no effect from this development. As long as the manager stays, that is broadly true, but the Tangerines face a big test at Arsenal on Saturday.
