63-year old Stephanie Booth was announced as the preferred bidder for Wrexham yesterday in an extraordinary stunt on the pitch.  You can see video of the announcement here.   Against police advice, the local hotelier went on the pitch before the match and opened a sealed envelope from owners Geoff Moss and Ian Roberts.

Wrexham Supporters Trust were among five bidders, but they refused to join Booth on the pitch to open the envelope.   The owners have pledged not to put the club into administration while the club is sold to what is described as a community-based partnership headed by Booth.  Booth warned the crowd, ‘I need the owners to co-operate with me.  Please stop any disturbances and demonstrations as they will look for a quick exit.’

If the sale goes through, Booth could well be the first transsexual to head up a British football club.  She was once jailed for selling porn and has run a sex-change and cross-dressing website.  She was the subject of a fly-on-the-wall television documentary in 2009.
