More turmoil at Leeds

Neil Redfearn is considering his position at Leeds United after assistant coach Steve Thompson was suspended, apparently without his knowledge.   Thompson was suspended by director of football, Nicola Salerno.

It’s long been our view that the importance of Leeds as a regional capital and its footballing history means that the club merits a Premiership place.    However, a history of mismanagement and baffling decisions has undermined the club to an extent that has not happened anywhere else.

It’s long been our view that the importance of Leeds as a regional capital and its footballing history means that the club merits a Premiership place.    However, a history of mismanagement and baffling decisions has undermined the club to an extent that has not happened anywhere else.

These latest developments will give additional impetus to the fans organised in Leeds Fans LLP who are trying to buy a minority stake in the club on behalf of supporters, targeting the shares held by Gulf Finance House.   They want 10,000 supporters to invest £100 each as a first step.   However, they will be able to invest as much as £10,000 into a Community Benefit Society.

The group is led by Dylan Thwaites who sold his internet business for £55m in 2007.  He is angry at the way the club has stagnated,   He said, ‘The amazing growth and vibrancy of the city of Leeds has not affected the club at all, but they should be absolutely connected.’

There are mounting rumours that Massimo Cellino wants to sell his majority stake and a variety of possible purchasers have been linked with the club.
