Plymouth Argyle are making progress on some fronts after experiencing administration, but are still facing challenges on others.   Acting chairman and chief executive Peter Ridsdale hopes to make an announcement about the club’s new kit supplier next week.    Their deal with adidas has ended early following their financial crisis.

The much travelled supremo said, ‘We have got a preferred kit supplier who, in my view, top dollar.  I hope to make an announcement next week.’   Ridsdale, who deserves credit for taking on the challenge at Home Park, is also working on securing a new shirt sponsorship contract.  He said, ‘I have had a proposal from two companies but haven’t accepted anything yet.   It’s about getting the best deal for the football club and I’m fairly laid back about it.  You can put a sponsor’s name on your shirts any time up until the first game of the season.’

Ridsdale is working on a plan over the bank holiday weekend which would allow Argyle to start selling season tickets for 2011/12.   He also confirmed that the Pilgrims’ non-playing staff had now been paid, in full, their wages for May.   That follows the arrival of some of the promised cash from Argyle’s preferred bidders, a mystery Irish consortium.

The players, however, have not been paid since December.   Ridsdale said, ‘We are trying to see how much money we have got for June to decide what the situation is.’   Argyle owe more than £3m in unpaid wages to the players and other staff.
