It was a frustrating day at Rangers yesterday as the administrators sought agreement on player wage cuts as a means of avoiding redundancies. However, there were signs by the end of the day that an agreement was closer. Meanwhile, Greg Wylde, a 20-year old product of the Rangers youth system, chose to terminate his contract.

The administrators told the squad after training in the morning that they were rejecting an offer by the players on Monday to defer wages. The proposal from the administrators would lead to salaries being reduced on a sliding scale with a 75 per cent cut for the higher earners, 50 per cent for mid-earners and 25 per cent for low earners. The situation would be re-evaluated at the end of May.
In return, players want clauses added to their contracts giving guarantees that reasonable transfer bids would be considered from other clubs when the summer transfer window opens.
