"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

Loons post a loss

Forfar Athletic made an operating loss of just under £36,000 in the year ended 31 May 2010.  On a turnover of £261,417, this represents a loss of nearly 14 per cent.

The winter weather in Scotland has hit Forfar hard like other clubs.  Players' wages still have to be paid and training facilities hired. The lost of Saturday match-day hospitality due to postponements has been a particular blow.   It makes fund raising even more important.   The diverse range of sources of revenue includes a telecommunications mast, golf day and ladies dinner.

Money from the Scottish Premier League has enabled remedial work to be carried out including new toilets and repair work to the west stand wall.
