Former Barrow and Chester City owner Stephen Vaughan was present at the press conference launching and the deal and announced himself as the club’s new shirt sponsor.   However, it was stated that he will not have any involvement in the running of the club.

Vaughan was the first person to fail the Football League’s fit and proper person test.   He is banned from being a director of any company until 2020 after a ‘VAT carousel fraud’ while he was a director of Rugby League club Widnes Vikings.
