However, the market is now saturated. Former player and club adviser Paul Breitner told TheTimes, ‘We cannot expand any more in Europe. We must look further, to Asia, to Latin America, to find new markets.’

Their commercial income last year was £173.7m, not far off what Manchester United and Liverpool generated between them. Ticket prices are held down with the average price for a home game being just £32. At Arsenal, the cheapest seat for a Category A game is £62.
