Dallas-based billionaire Gareth Roberts is a retired petroleum geologist who made his fortune in the oil industry. He has bought the major shareholding from Bob Blackburn. He grew up on the Holme Wood council estate in Bradford. Last year he failed in an attempt to buy rugby league side Bradford Bulls.
He wants to give something back to his home city and says that his focus will be mainly on the community and less on pumping money into the playing budget.
