Founded in 1886 as Argyle F.C. the club turned professional in 1903. Its ground is called Home Park (capacity 20,922) and in December 2006 the club completed the purchase of the stadium from Plymouth City Council, releasing the ground from a 125 year lease, for £2.7 million. The club has doubled its attendance figures between 2000 and 2006.
