Charlton Abandon Takeover Effort - 15/02/2008
South-East London club Charlton Athletic have called off takeover talks with potential investors. Reports that they had received an offer and rejected it were completely without foundation. In August the club had brought in takeover experts Seymour Pierce to advise them, but a statement to the Stock Exchange read, 'The board have concluded that the best interests of the club are served under the current ownership. As a result all talks regarding possible offers for the company have now been discontinued.' The news will probably please most Charlton fans as it assures the continuation of the community and family orientation of the club.
