Uefa to scrutinise City deal

Manchester City's sponsorship deal with Etihad Airways is to be scrutinised by Uefa's financial fair play panel.   The deal was rumoured to be worth £400m, but City have said that that figure is not accurate.

City's line of defence appears to be that the Etihad deal is unique and therefore cannot readily be benchmarked about what appear to be equivalent deals elsewhere in terms of its breadth, depth and long-term character.   They emphasise that it is not just a question of shirt and stadium sponsorship, but the 210-acre Etihad Campus which they see as a place to work and a place to be.
