The Drumaville Consortium secured 89.13% of the shares in Sunderland Ltd. and ex-player Niall Quinn became Chairman.

American businessman Ellis Short then gained a controlling interest in Sunderland A.F.C. in 2008, and assumed full ownership of the club in May 2009. Official kit supplier to the club since 2012 has been Adidas (taking over from Umbro who had been supplier for 5 years previous).
