Spurs launch another judicial review

Tottenham Hotspur have broadened their fight over the allocation of the Olympic Stadium to West Ham.  Last month they applied for a judicial review into Newham Council’s role in arranging a £40m loan to finance West Ham’s move to the stadium.    Now they have applied for a judicial review against the Olympic Park Legacy Company, the Mayor of London, the Minister for Sport and the Olympics and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

In a sense these applications are an attempt to gain additional leverage in ongoing discussions with local and national government bodies about a possible solution, although what that might be is unclear.

Leyton Orient have also asked for a judicial review in relation to Newham’s role in partnering West Ham’s bid.   The High Court will now have to assess all these claims before deciding or not whether to hold a judicial review that saw West Ham secure the stadium.    I think it is more likely than not that the Court will decide to review what has happened.
