Sky Sports News to be taken off Freeview
Sky Sports News is to be taken off Freeview later in the year and made a purely subscription service. It means that viewers will have to pay to see the popular Soccer Saturday show hosted by Hartlepool fan Jeff Stelling which updates scores from around the country. As well as on the Sky platform, Sky Sports News will be available to Virgin Media and TalkTalk TV subscribers and BT Vision have now been given permission to offer it by the regulator.
News International owns 39 per cent of BSkyB and is seeking to buy out other investors. News International has recently imposed charges for access to The Times and Sunday Times websites, although there is no charge for subscribers to the paper and a free trial is currently available. It seems that Rupert Murdoch wishes to reduce the amount of free content his outlets offer.
Sky insiders argue that the programme now offers sufficient quality to be charged for, which is undoubtedly the case, and they are also planning to develop a HD service. Unfortunately, I live in a conservation area and I am not permitted to have a satellite dish so it looks as if I will lose the service, although BT Vision may be an option.
SKY is turning ugly
SKY is upsetting millions of viewers who same as me are considering leaving them because they're becoming ugly and dirty with us. I've got a business contract with SKY for my BnB for about 8 years now and in the last 2 years, first they took SKY SPORTS 3 off then this year they're taking off SKY SPORTS 2 without a simple regret. They are also taking off SKY SPORT NEWS from Freeview so what next? I am considering putting commercial licensed European satellite and save myself £350 per month and also you get 3 main matches at 3pm live kick off. Very greedy people who don't want to know anything apart from their pockets. Dump SKY now.
BT Vision won't work
I am a very pissed-off BT Vision customer who shelled out for Sky Sports 1 so I could continue to watch Gillette Soccer Saturday, only to find it advertised today that Soccer Saturday will ONLY be broadcast on Sky Sports News. This is just low-grade blackmail from Sky and is disgusting.
