Sky Blues try to buy share in Ricoh

Not owning your own ground is a drawback for any football club, particularly when you want to attract investment but lack tangible assets.  Hence, it is no surprise that Coventry City FC are trying to acquire a stake in the Ricoh Stadium.

Although what is described as a 'positive meeting' has taken place with the Higgs Charity that owns half the stadium, they have made it clear that they want assurances before they proceed any further.  They want more transparency about who the owners of the club really are and they would like to see a sensible plan for its development.

There are those who argue that leaving Highfield Road was a mistake, but it was not a suitable venue for a club with Premiership ambitions.   The Ricoh is also a fine stadium which will be used in the Olympics.
