Sky Blues adversaries meet

The two main adversaries in the dispute over Coventry City and the Ricoh Arena have met in London. Joy Seppala of Sisu and Ann Lucas, the leader of Coventry City Council have held talks.

Sisu have indicated that they would only return to the Ricoh if they obtained the freehold of the stadium and the surrounding land.   The City Council have not ruled this out.

There is a long way to go before any resolution of this dispute.   However, even if the Ricoh Arena is financially viable without a football club playing in it, it doesn’t make a lot of sense.  Attendances at Northampton have been a lot lower than Sisu predicted, despite success on the pitch.  Building a new stadium in the Coventry area would be costly and take some years.

Sky Blues fans have no love for Sisu, but would probably accept a return of the club to the Ricoh, regardless of the identity of the owners.
