Rangers buyout of Bury denied

A reported plan for Rangers to buy Bury FC has been scotched by the League 1 club. Under the plan Bury's home fixtures would be moved to Ibrox and played there, starting with the game against Brentford.
It is unclear why Bury was selected or whether the scheme would be compatible with the rules of either English or Scottish football.
The talk north of the border is increasingly of Rangers being readmitted to the Scottish Premier League, then immediately being relegated to Division 1. This is admittedly an improvement on farcical schemes to have them play in Division 3. However, it would be a further hit on the club's finances. Playing at a lower level would hit ticket sales and commercial sponsorships, although there would be some savings on player wages.
Former director David King thinks that the club will need subsidies for three years and doubts whether the consortium headed by Charles Green can readily find the necessary funds.
