Rampant Stags

Fans generally have many, often justified, criticisms of club owners so it’s nice to see praise for a change.   At Mansfield Town’s annual meeting Darren Shaw, representing Stags Fans United, credited finance director Jim Beachill for his steadfast work on the club’s finances saying ‘Fans really appreciate it.’  Dean Foulkes, chairman of the Stags Supporters Association was even more effusive: ‘The finances are incredible, brilliant. People are so excited to support the club.’

The club recorded a nominal loss of just £10,000 from June 2015 to June 2016, down from £74,000 the previous year.  Chairman John Radford and his group of companies have injected £2.5m into the club for the 2017-18 season and this could increase further.

The club is currently in talks with Hilton Hotel Group and expects to build a new hotel, next to the current matchdau ticket office adjacent to the Quarry Lane stand.   Work is progressing on a new training ground. Work on the currently used Bishop Street Stand will start when crowds increase.
