The club was founded in 1867. It is the oldest football club in Scotland. Home matches are played at Hampden Park, located in south east Glasgow, which is also the home of the Scottish national team and one of 29 UEFA denominated 'elite' stadia. Queen's Park FC maintains a strict amateur ethos reflected by their motto, Ludere Causa Ludendi - 'to play for the sake of playing'. The club has won two national championships and the Scottish Cup ten times, although the last time they won it was in 1893.
