Portsmouth crisis continues

The crisis at Portsmouth Football Club is a bit like the crisis in the eurozone.  It never goes away, it flares up regularly and it never gets resolved.  In one case, the future of a currency is at stake: in the other, the future of an historic football club with a dedicated following.

The crisis at Portsmouth Football Club is a bit like the crisis in the eurozone.  It never goes away, it flares up regularly and it never gets resolved.  In one case, the future of a currency is at stake: in the other, the future of an historic football club with a dedicated following.

For tonight’s Capital One cup game Portsmouth are going to have to field the first team coach, a non-contract keeper who was playing non-league football last season and a collection of youth players.  The club is clearly in a potential relegation battle, but the real battle is against extinction.

The latest obstacle appears to be that the potential purchasers are objecting to the amount they will have to pay the administrators.
