"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

The club was founded in 1902 by a group of friends led by Robert Webster and Joseph Cowper . Home games are played at Carrow Road (Capacity: 26,034). Norwich have won the League Cup twice, in 1962 and 1985. It also claims the title of 'world's oldest fans song' ("On the Ball City") which was written in the 1890s and adapted for Norwich City on the club's formation. Norwich City F.C. is a public limited company that, in 2003, comprised approximately 8,000 individual shareholdings. Since purchasing their shares from Geoffrey Watling, Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn-Jones have been joint majority shareholders.

For season 2009/10 (ending as Division 1 champions), Norwich City's turnover comprised 41% gate and ticket receipts, 9% FA and League income, 22% catering, 21% commercial, and 7% other.

This report from The Pink Un football paper on Norwich City Football Club plc's AGM, held in November 2011, carries some interesting financial and operations detail. A couple of examples:

"Club chairman Alan Bowkett said... TV money rising to £38m this year, from £5.5m in the Championship..." (due to the club winning promotion to the Premier League)

"For the current year it sold £9.3m worth of tickets but players’ wages have risen to £20.9m and backroom staff wages are up to £2.7m..."
