'My league's bigger than yours'

Professor Simon Chadwick takes a look at the thorny issue of which is the biggest league in European football.   Although the conclusions are not surprising, the evidence and its appraisal are interesting.

He uses a number of criteria such as money, trophies and crowds.   Not surprisingly, he comes to the conclusion that no one league is dominant, but the three leading ones are in England, Germany and Spain.  Italy's Serie A is just about hanging in there and France's Ligue 1 is some way off the pace.

My League's bigger than yours

How can one argue with such facts. Very good and well researched article, that 'elm' puts to bed one of the age-long football debates.

Personally, i feel the EPL is still the best league in the world for its share entertainment. The league is drama all through, and all the clubs are benefiting from the revenue it's raking in. The EPL is tremendously competitive, you could watch Crystal Palace vs Southampton and still have a good time.

Whereas in the Spanish league, you only watch the matches Barcelona or Real Madrid play. I mean try watching Elche vs Leavante or something - it's crap !

Although the Bundesliga has a lot of entertainment too, with the quality of football they play over there.

My Top 3 League ranking would be; 1. English Premier League 2. Bundesliga 3. La liga
