The club was formed in 1886. Home matches are plated at Fir Park Stadium (capacity: 13,742) - since 1896. As of 2009, the club had won four major trophies in its history: the First Division in 1931–32, the Scottish Cup in 1952 and 1991, and the Scottish League Cup in 1950.
