Conference outfit Kettering Town FC are the latest football club to pay players late.  They were due payment last Tuesday but got 50 per cent then and the remaining 50 per cent on Friday.  The club is owed a substantial amount of money by a sponsor.

The club has just two years left on the lease of its Rockingham Road ground and chairman Imraan Ladak has not been seen in recent weeks, leading to concern among fans about his future involvement.   The club’s playing budget was drastically cut at the end of 2010.   However, Ladak says that he has been on holiday with his family.

Players at League 2 Accrington Stanley have also not been paid this month.   Accrington have faced financial problems in recent seasons, including a threat of being wound up by Revenue and Customs in 2009.   The club’s board was restructured at the end of March.
