"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

Ilkeston fold but phoenix club likely

Ilkeston Town Football Club have been wound up over a £50,000 tax debt.   Their record this season in the Blue Square Bet North has been expunged.   Erewash Borough Council have confirmed that the New Manor Ground will be available to a successor club which is likely to start at Step 5 at the highest of the non-league system next season.

The majority of supporters favour a fan-run phoenix club, but a number of investors are also interested.  Among them is a consortium including former director Andrew Raisin, a local communications company called 21C and a company that helps sports groups access grants and community projects called Fundsport UK.  Nottingham charity worker Tony Griffith, who launched the Nottingham Knights basketball team, has also expressed interest.
