Hibs open new stand

Hibernian open their new East Stand with the visit of Rangers today.   It takes the capacity of Easter Road to 20,250.   It will be the biggest stadium outside the Old Firm.  They had enough money  left over to build a £5m training centre on the outskirts of Edinburgh as well.

Hibs are generally recognised as one of the more prudent clubs in the SPL and have made steady progress.   Development of the squad is, however, financially constrained.

Alternatives to developing Easter Road were a ground share with rivals Hearts or a new ground out on the Edinburgh by-pass.  However, they decided to make the best use of their existing capital asset.
