Hartlepool United ('Pools' to its fans) was formed in 1908 and joined the Football League proper in 1921 via entry to the newly formed Third Division North, although the club has never played higher than tier-three of the Football League. Home games are played at Victoria Park - a stadium with a capacity of 7,690.
