French football row erupts again

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has renewed his criticisms of the finances of Paris Saint-Germain, earning himself a public rebuke for denigrating another club.

Earlier in the year he argued that PSG had tax privileges because the club was foreign owned and now he is claiming that they are receiving a form of state aid from Qatar.   I would not have thought that payments from a country outside the European Union would fall under state aid rules which apply to member states.

However, clearly the dominance of PSG has upset some other clubs in France where there is less familiarity with substantial foreign investment in football.
