Football's lost city?

Is Bristol 'football's lost city?'    It is the sixth largest city in England, generally prosperous and growing rapidly, but neither of its clubs has won any serious silverware.

Rugby has a stronger local culture which is true for most of the west country.  The peripatetic existence of Bristol Rovers in recent years has not helped them and both clubs would like to replace and upgrade their stadiums.   The local authority doesn't seem all that helpful, however, and 'Nimby' forces are relatively influential.
