"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

Financial problems at Wrexham

Wrexham's failure to re-gain Football League status has clearly cost them financially, although the overall position is complicated as this statement from the club makes clear.   It is evident that the holding company, Wrexham Village, is subsidising the club to the tune of £1m a year.

The club emerged from administration with £11m of debt, but development land was sold to the holding company for £6m which now has to complete a student housing project.   The club now owns the ground and its training ground,   Crusaders Rugby Club does not make a profit but contributes significantly to cash flow.
