The club’s roots began with the establishment of Wilhelmina football club in 1908, becoming Hillesluise in 1909, then RVV Celeritas and finally SC Feijenoord in 1912, being named after the city district in which the team was founded. Playing as Feyenoord the club has won 14 Dutch Championships (Eredivisie), 11 Dutch Cups (KNVB Cups), 1 European Cup and 2 UEFA Cups. Home matches are played at the Feijenoord Stadion (more commonly known as ‘De Kuip’ – trans. ‘The Tub’) which has a capacity of 51,577 spectators.
