"If you want some accessible but informative insight into football then I suggest you couldn't do better than the Political Economy of Football website, which is not only intelligible but comes with the added bonus of being written by Addicks fan Wyn Grant."

The club was founded as St. Domingo F.C. in 1878 and renamed Everton a year later. They were founder members of the Football League in 1888, and won their first League Championship title in 1890–91. The club has contested more seasons in the top flight of English football than any other. They are one of the top five most successful English clubs in terms of major honours, having won the League Championship nine times, the FA Cup five times and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup once, although the most recent major trophy, the 1995 FA Cup, was over 10 years ago.
