Do Accrington need a new stadium?

Accrington Stanley's owner Ilyas Khan thinks that the club is not sustainable at the Crown Ground in the longer run and needs to move to a new stadium to be viable.   The club has already had to reduce staff numbers to keep costs under control.   A possible site for a £7m stadium has been identified near Hyndburn Sports Ground and Mr Khan might be prepared to contribute £2m towards the cost.

It might be questioned whether the stadium is the real problem, albeit that it is old fashioned and with a limited capacit of 5057.   However, located between Burnley and Blackburn Rovers, Accrington have a real challenge with attracting crowds.  The average attendance this season has been 1655 which is just under a third of capacity.  Would a new stadium fundamentally change this?

it is something of a minor miracle that stanley have regained the Football League place two of their

predeccesors had, they both went bust and if this club gets grand ideas they will too, they just have to

accept crowds will never rise above a  2,000 average -  they are simply stunted by geography.
