Chicago-based group swoop for Owls

Sheffield Wednesday may have been relegated to League 1, but a Chicago-based investment group is ready to swoop for the Owls.   Contacts with Chicago links have never heard of Club-9 sports, but they could be a bespoke outfit forned for the Wednesday takeover.

They reckon that given some investment Wednesday have all the ingredients to become a Premier League outfit.   They certainly have a proud history and a fine if somewhat old fashioned stadium.  They are, however, one of two clubs in a not particularly large or prosperous city which is best known in sporting terms for its annual hosting of the snooker championships.   Nevertheless, perhaps the surge in support for Sheffield MP Nick Clegg may be a good omen for the city's clubs.

You've not researched this

You've not researched this very well have you? Sheffield is the fourth largest city in England and contains the Sheffield Hallam constituency which is the most affluent district in the UK outside of London.

Do your research Sheffield is

Do your research Sheffield is the fourth largest city in England!

The muppet that wrote the above

How little research did you do to qualify the statements made in your article.

"one of two clubs in a not particularly large or prosperous city which is
best known in sporting terms for its annual hosting of the snooker
championships". Where in the world is the small dark hole in the ground that you crawled from to submit this article. Geography & economics not your strongest subjects eh?

The fifth largest city in the country which has regenerated following the collapse of the steel and mining industries.

WG, why don't you get yourself on a boat, train or plane up to the city and have a look for yourself.

By the way, I am not Sheffield born or bred, I am not even a Yorkshireman and at present do not even reside in the UK, but I am better informed and qualified than you to comment.

Oh - by the way, this is a very old story, so congratulations on the scoop.

Hillsborough

Has WG ever been to Hillsborough, how dare he call it old fashioned.

Sheffield???

Hallam constitiuency the "wealthiest outside London"??? Course it is... I mean places like Esher and Henley-on-Thames are absolutely poverty-stricken in comparison

Suggest you do _your_ research anonymous.

Yorkshiremen eh?....Foot in mouth
