The club was founded in 1867 and currently play at the Recreation Ground Saltergate (capacity: 8,504), although plans for a new 10,000 all-seater stadium, to be built by Alfred McAlpine and to be named the B2net Stadium, are still in progress for which planning permission was granted in August 2009.
