The club was founded in 1885 as an amalgamation of Chester Rovers and Old King’s Scholars F.C. Originally it was called Chester F.C. but changed the name, adding the suffix City, in 1983. The club plays at the Deva Stadium (Capacity 5,328 – 3,929 seated) which is geographically inside Wales. The 90’s and noughties have been a period of repeated financial problems for the club, twice being forced into administration in 1998 and 2009.
