The club was formed in 1881, and plays at Shielfield Park (capacity: 4,130 - of which 1,366 are seated). The club is based in the English Border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, but plays in the Scottish Football League (as an elected member since 1955). There is an active Supporters Trust and the highest honour achieved by the club was a Second Division Championship (1978–79).
