Walsall then Highfield 2 for Sky Blues

Coventry City are planning to play their games at Walsall for three years while a 'Highfield Road 2' is constructed nearer the city centre.   They have been impressed by a similar stadium built by Rotherham United in a town centre location which has a 'modular design' which means that it can be expanded later if required.

It's not easy running a football club in an economically challenged small northern town near a bigger city. Stockport County are now playing in the Conference North, having at one time been in what is now the Championship. Bury also played at that level, but have faced serious financial problems.

The future of Worcester City football club is under threat. It's always questionable whether a club should sell its ground without having a new one to go to. Next season there will be a ground share at Kidderminster which is not an easy journey from Worcester (not least because it means coping with the joys of the Kiddy ring road).

The sad tale of Wolves

When I first started watching football in the 1950s, Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the top teams in the country, if not the top team (although their Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion were also in there).  For a small boy, a visit of Wolves to The Valley was the equivalent of Manchester United today.

Ricoh deny 'lock out' claims

Arena Coventry Limited (ACL), the operators of the Ricoh Arena, have denied claims by Coventry City chief executive Tim Fisher that the Sky Blues have been locked out of the stadium.   They insist that the doors remain wide open for the club and argue that, in any case, statements of this kind should be made by the administrator.

Orient judicial review bid rejected

Leyton Orient's written application for a judicial review of West Ham's tenancy of the Olympic Stadium has been rejected. The club could ask for a hearing before a court, but that would involve additional cost and would be unlikely to succeed.

There is an increasing resort to judicial reviews by those who perceive that they have been adversely affected by a decision, but the issue is whether the procedures by which that decision was reached have been flawed.

Promoted to the Championship, AFC Bournemouth are intending to expand their ground over the summer to provide an extra 3,000-4,000 of capacity.   At present the ground only has stands on three sides (which always feels odd) and has a capacity of less than 10,000.

Cardiff's long road back

When I started watching football in the early 1950s, Cardiff City seemed to be an established top flight side. In fact, when I checked back, they spent just 15 years in the top flight, finally leaving in 1962, although they are the only team outside England to have won the FA Cup.

Sisu try to restart Sky Blue talks

Coventry City owners Sisu are trying to get talks restarted on their tenancy of the Ricoh Arena.  They have made a direct appeal to the chief executive of the city council, Martin Reeves.   As has been the case for some time, the main sticking point is not the rent, where Arena Coventry Limited have made a substantially reduced offer, but matchday revenues.
