Vics Face Extinction - 08/10/2007

Historic Northwich Victoria who once played in the Football League are just two weeks from possible extinction. The Vics have been ordered to pay a six-figure tax bill by October 17th or face the prospect of going bust after the Inland Revenue issued a winding-up petition last week. Administration would see the struggling Cheshire side docked ten points and condemned to almost certain relegation from the Conference. Long-suffering Vics fans, some of whose families have supported the club for a hundred years, saw the club go into administration in the 2004-5 season. On that occasion they managed to overhaul the ten point penalty, only to be relegated after officials failed to transfer the club's Conference membership to the new owners.
