With Southampton stuck in the lower reaches of the Championship, fans' dissatisfaction with Saints chairman Rupert Lowe is growing. Before the midweek goalless home draw against Crystal Palace, the local paper published six pages of anti-Lowe letters. Fans sung 'Swing Lowe, Sweet Chariot' and chanted 'We Want Rupert Out'. Thousands gathered outside the ground to demonstrate afterwards. A consortium of local businessmen led by Andrew Strode-Gibbons, a wealthy local financier who accumulated a pot of money from selling a mortgage company, is preparing a bid to buy a third of the club's shares and oust Lowe. However, it is not clear whether the sales available for sale and Lowe himself has vigorously defended his actions, indicating that he would not go quietly.
