Blades May Buy Chinese Football Club - 24/10/2005 |
|
|
Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe has revealed an interest in buying an unnamed Chinese football club. 'We believe we could do it cheaply and manage it successfully', the Blades chairman said. 'We can replicate some of the things we are doing at Bramall Lane. The concept of the acquisition is agreed - we are looking at due diligence.' Sheffield United toured China this year and has a football academy there while Mr MacCabe has property and investments in China. Shares in the Aim-listed club have more than doubled since July with the club seemingly on course for promotion to the Premiership. The company is also extending its leisure and property interests, opening a health club in Sheffield last week. |
