Liverpool Stadium Worries

31/03/2005

Spiralling costs are raising questions about the viability of Liverpool's new stadium project at Stanley Park. Chief executive Rick Parry has said that the club may have to abandon the project if costs rise further. The club have spent the past year waiting for the Northwest Development Agency to approve a grant application for the 60,000 seater stadium. With steel and construction costs soaring, the cost has increased from £80m to £120m during the past eighteen months and continues to escalate by more than £750,000 a month.
