Liverpool, the European champions, topped the Champions League money earners table with television and performance bonuses making the club £20.5 million. Chelsea were second best renumerated with £18.8 million and AC Milan, the losing finalists, were third with £17.5 million.

A proportion of the money is calculated as media revenues, which is shared amongst the clubs in the same TV market (i.e. by country), another proportion (a pot of £20 million) is split depending on domestic league position the year of qualification and a further £20 million pot is split amongst each nation's participating clubs according to how many games they play in the tournament.
