American sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer has revived his bid for Manchester United. He has appointed investment bankers at NM Rothschild as his advisers. The bank is not, however, providing funding for the bid to replace that withdrawn by JP Morgan. Reports in the City suggest, however, that some institutions have offered to back a syndicate. As much of the Glazer family's money is tied up in property and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers American football team, they need the backing of a large investment bank to succeed in the deal. Manchester United, which has grown weary of Glazer's exploits, stated, 'We don't intend to reopen discussions on this matter until we receive a definitive proposal from Glazer.'
